It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another Proud Mommy Moments!

For more info on what PMM is all about, see this post. Please make sure that if you’re linking up, you’re actually linking a Proud or Not-So-Proud Mommy moment (using the permalink. Not sure what a permalink is? Just ask me). Links not related to PMM will be deleted and deleting links makes me feel bad. Please don’t make me feel bad.
I’m normally on here sharing my not-so-Proud Mommy Moments. Not because my kids are bad, but because I tend to enjoy the humorous things they do and find it more fun to share those bits of our lives. However, I have a truly Proud Mommy Moment to share with you this week.
On Monday evening, we met my mother-in-law and father-in-law at a restaurant for dinner. We were celebrating Jdaddy’s birthday (which was last week…Happy Birthday babe!), and for the most part the kids were behaving themselves.
Just before we got up to leave, I watched the hostess seat a family at another table. The family included a young soldier.
When it was time to leave, as we walked by the table, the boys stared, wide-eyed at the soldier. Once we were past the table, they both asked if we had noticed him. We said we did, and then asked the boys if they would like to go and thank the soldier for what he is doing for our country. Buddy was hesitant, but Buster jumped at the opportunity.
My mother-in-law walked him over and Buster said, “Thank you for serving our country.” The soldier said “you’re welcome” and then shook Buster’s hand.
Not to be outdone by his little brother, Buddy then asked my mother-in-law to take him over. He told the soldier, “Thank you for protecting us.” and got his own handshake. The boys were thrilled. And my mother-in-law, as well as the soldier’s mother, were all teary-eyed. It was such a tender moment, and one that makes me so very proud of my boys.
Okay! Now it’s your turn. Type out your Proud, or maybe not-so-Proud Mommy Moment and link it up! Don’t forget to check out Emmy’s Proud Mommy Moment as well! One last thing, PMM isn’t just for mom’s…anyone can link up!

totally crying over here!!
Aww. It is pretty touching, isn’t it?
And linked!
Yay! Thank you!
AWW that’s wonderful. Tearing up here.
I had a proud moment this week, but already have a post up today. My moment is scheduled to go up tomorrow.
I’m just excited you’re linking up! I’ll be sure to stop by.
Aw, that is so cool! What amazing boys you have!
Thank you. they can be little stinkers, but sometimes they surprise me.
That is awesome! A very proud moment indeed and more people need to follow their example
More people do need to follow their lead. I need to be better about it too. I learned a lot from my little guys this week.
Wow, you have truly sweet boys! I got tears in my eyes reading this! Awesome PMM!
Thanks. They aren’t always that sweet, but they were at that moment.
What a PMM indeed! I am tearing up just thinking about your boys and the soldier. My little brother just graduated boot camp last week and is now officially a Marine and I couldn’t be more proud.
Make sure you tell your brother thank you for us!
Awwww! That was sweet and it brought tears to my eyes too. You always wonder if you are getting through to your kids when they are driving you crazy with backtalking and bickering and then they go and do something like that and you know it’s getting through
Anytime I get the opportunity I thank a soldier for their service. I also do that with police officers and firefighters as well. They all sacrifice to protect us and put their own lives on the line to save the life of another.
Both of the boys pray for the soldiers every night, so I think that helped them understand. We don’t see a lot of soldiers here in Michigan, so it was so fun to watch their reaction.
So sweet! My boys would have been staring too, but I think they might have called him GI Joe:)
LOL!! I’m surprised Buddy didn’t mention that!
I got teary eyed reading that! What a wonderful, super proud Mommy Moment!!!!
I know, right? They totally melted my heart.
OK, this is embarrassing but I’m crying over here. After losing one of Josh’s friends recently in Iraq and then learning that another of his friends is being transferred to the same da** location where the first one was killed, I’m a bit emotional. So even though your boys have no idea I even exist in this world I am proud of them too!
Don’t be embarrassed!! After being through what you went through it makes complete sense. Like I said, a few of us were teary eyed ourselves.
GREAT PMM!!!
Thanks! As soon as it happened, I though, “I have a PMM for this week!!”
LOVE it!!! That is so sweet! How can your heart not swell with pride!
Thank you. So true…my heart was so full of pride!
WOW! What sweet boys you have. Way to go Momma!
Thank you. They can sometimes make me so proud. Other time? Notsomuch. LOL
I love that they did that. That is awesome.
Thanks. It definitely made me proud.
Ok, I don’t even know you and I got teary eyed. This is so sweet! I need to remember to do this next time I see a soldier. I wonder if they will look at me weird.
Very sweet story! =)
Stopping by via Emmy
Thanks for stopping by. I don’t think they’ll look at you weird at all. Most feel very humbled by it.
Very sweet! I caught my husband doing that last week – thanking a soldier – and before I knew it, Itty Bit had saluted and thanked the next one he saw. So wonderful when your kids have a heart of gratefulness!
Aww! The salute made me tear up. That’s so cute.
Wow, I love your proud moment. I too would’ve been teary eyed. My kids laugh at me when I feel proud moments and the girls look at each other and say “oh man, moms gonna cry again” That usually instead makes me giggle.
I’m a bit crier, so I get what you’re saying. I wish my kids could make me laugh when I’m going to cry!! Hopefully they’ll learn that trick when they get older.
So incredibly sweet!!! Crying over here!
Thank you. I need to save this post so that I can read it when I’m raging mad at them! LOL
That is the sweetest thing EVER!! Definitely a proud Mama moment for sure!
Thank you! I thought so too. I need to remember their sweet moments, because they are few and far between.
That is very sweet! It’s nice to see they already have a respect in place at such a young age.
Thanks. We try. We pray for the brave soldiers every night. I think that’s part of their awe over the soldiers.
Oh, that is too sweet! Makes all the “other” moments more bearable, doesn’t it?
It really does. I had to blog about it so I can go back and read it when they are being unbearable! LOL
Oh my gosh, that is so sweet. It reminds me of one time we were in the mall and Baby Girl saw a police officer and asked if he were a hero (as in a Higgleytown Hero, do you remember that show?). It was so cute and he stopped and talked to her for a few minutes.
Aww! Baby Girl is such a sweetie. I remember Higglytown Hero…I didn’t realize it went off the air.
That’s AWESOME. Kudos to you as a mom and your sweet guys. We have family members in the service overseas and any time I read a story like this, it makes me grateful for people like you!!
Sorry for my delayed response.
Thank you. I want my boys to realize how important those in the military are, and how brave both they and their families are, all to protect us.
Now I’m teary eyed too. Your boys are so sweet!
Yeah, well, sometimes.
Now that is incredibly sweet! You should be proud!
