Last week, I pretty much unloaded in the post, I Need a Vacation, due the amount of stress I was feeling.
Everyone was so nice and supportive, so I wanted to post an update. It’s not much of an update, but it’s something.
First, my mom had her surgery last Wednesday. Everything went smoothly and she’s recovering well at home. That was such a relief.
I don’t have an update on Buster’s ophthalmology appointment because that’s still a week away, so I’m still feeling a little stress about that.
As for my endometrial biopsy and hysteroscopy…well, it’s done. That’s about the most positive thing I can say about it. It was VERY uncomfortable, and at times, extremely painful. The f-bomb might have escaped from my lips with a loud “OW!!” following at one point. My doctor wasn’t phased at all, however, if the size of the eyes of the resident that was observing was any indication, I’m pretty sure I scared her. I’m surprised they don’t strap your legs down in the stirrups for the safety of the doctor. Seriously.
The good news is that my uterus was clear of polyps. The bad news is that my uterus was clear of polyps, so we still don’t know why I’m having some abnormal bleeding. I have a follow-up appointment on February 13th to get the results of my biopsies, and we’ll see what the next steps are at that point.
As painful as it was for me, if your doctor suggests that you have an endometrial biopsy or hysteroscopy, it’s imperative that you get it done. There’s a reason your doctor thinks you should have it done.
And even though I’m still feeling some stress, I have something to look forward to this weekend. My birthday is on Saturday, and Jdaddy and I are heading to the casino/resort for the weekend with two other couples. I’m looking forward to some adult time, some gambling, and fun with friends. I certainly need it after the past few weeks!
Thank you for all your kind words last week. I really appreciate your support!

Glad to hear your Mom is doing well.
Those biopsies suck, but can be very beneficial.
Are they going to check you for endometreosis?
No, we’re not going to check for it at this point. My doctor thinks it’s likely not endo, but rather adenomyosis, in which the only way to truly test for that is when your uterus is removed. So I’m just going to try and deal for now.
What all are they looking for? My mom had endometriosis – there are two cures 1) Hysterectomy. 2) Pregnancy. Both of which suck on many levels for different reasons. I am so glad that there were no Polyps, but yes, there is still a huge concern!
I’d forgotten that we almost share a birthday (mine’s Friday!) So happy early birthday!
They were looking for polyps and endometrial/uterine cancer. Thankfully everything came back clear.
Endo is one of a couple possibilities.
I hope you had a nice birthday!
I’m glad it’s getting better — and that weekend sounds great. Soaring Eagle by any chance?
Of course it was Soaring Eagle.
I’ve had a few of those appointments in which my legs should have been strapped down. It’ s not fun. I hope you get some answers soon. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Early Birthday!
Thanks! We had a great time on our weekend away. It was so nice.
I had a follow up last week and the biopsies were clear, so no cancer…thank goodness!
I’m so glad your mom is doing well, and that you survived your procedure! Hopefully they will figure out what is going on soon. Yay for birthday weekends! I know you are going to have an amazing time!
The biopsies came back clear, so all the big worrisome stuff has been ruled out. That’s such a relief.
I’m glad your test was negative (?). I’m fearing that you may have endometrosis. My mom had it and it was all of the same symptoms you mentioned, plus bloating. They think it may have been on of the contributing factors to my infertility, but it was never proven. That is one reason why I decided to go ahead with the hysterectomy when I had Bud. I figured it was coming anyway.
Endometriosis is one thought…adenomyosis is another. A hysterectomy is pretty much the only cure for both, but I’m not ready for that yet.
I’m sorry you’ve been so stressed. And although I’m relieved to hear you don’t have polyps, I can understand why it’s still frustrating as you still don’t have answers to what’s causing your problem. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Thank you! All the serious stuff has been ruled out. It’s such a relief.
Oh yea!! So happy you are going to be able to get away for the weekend!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday and tons of fun.
Thank you! We had a blast. It was so nice to get away!
Sorry, girl! I missed the previous post… had no idea you were going through all of this. I’m glad your mom is OK. And, I’m glad you’re getting things taken care of with regard to your health (eeeeek, and I realized I was crossing my legs and squeezing pretty tight while reading! LOL). I hope you get some answers and everything is fine. Keeping you and Buster in my prayers.
Thanks so much! The results from my biopsies were clear, so we’ve officially ruled out all the bad/serious stuff. It’s such a relief. Of course, it doesn’t fix the pain or abnormal bleeding, but it’s better than cancer!
I am so sorry for how painful that was! I hope they can figure it out (Doctor Google is just too scary in those times!)
Hope you have a most wonderful time celebrating your birthday!
Thank you. The biopsies came back clear, so there’s really no answers. We’re thinking endo or adenomyosis, of which, hysterectomy (or menopause) is the only cure. I’m just hoping I can get the pain under control.
I missed the first post, thanks to not having a network connection. I’m sorry you’ve been going through so much. Praying you get answers soon!
I hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend!
Thanks! The biopsies were clear, so there’s no significant reason to worry.
My birthday was fabulous. It was so nice to go away!
Glad your mom is ok! I hope you get some answers about your bleeding too. You are right, if they want you to have it done it is important! I will be praying for you and for the eye appt too.
Thanks so much.
No real answers on why I’m bleeding like I am, but at least all the bad stuff was ruled out. I can deal with it as long as there isn’t anything bad going on as a cause.
