We went quasi-camping again this year. What’s “quasi-camping”? Well, quasi-camping is the only kind of camping I’ll participate in. Memorial Weekend quasi-camping consists of a large group of people heading to a campground. Most of the people there have campers or motor homes. Some people even tent it. Not us. We rent the small cabins at the motel right next to the campground. We spend the day at the campground, but then retreat to the motel to sleep and shower. It’s a great compromise.
For some strange reason, I decided not to bring my camera this year, so all I had was my iPhone. I love the handiness of the iPhone camera, and the quality of photos is much better than the Droid I had before, but it’s nothing compared to my Canon.
We arrived at the campground on Friday evening and started a fire as soon as we could. Of course we enjoyed some s’mores.
It was chilly on Saturday. I stayed in jeans and sweatshirt most of the day. We had hoped to hit the beach, but decided to wait until Sunday, when it was supposed to hit 93 degrees.
Sunday arrived and it literally rained All.Day.Long. It more than rained. There was thunder and lightning. The kids watched movies in the motor homes, and the adults had a euchre tournament under the EZ up tents. It wasn’t warm either. Not even close.
Just before 8, the clouds parted, and we managed to get the kids out on the beach for a little bit.
All the storms and clouds led to a beautiful sunset.
And my boys played nice and let me snap one quick one of them together.
Monday morning, we packed up in the 80 degree heat (it was only 9 a.m….the heat FINALLY arrived) and headed back home. We got home around noon, and were home long enough to unpack the truck and eat some lunch. Then we packed up again and went over to a friend’s house to play in the lake they live on.
It was a super fun and busy weekend!

I’m all about quasi camping!
stopping by from ww seven clown circus:)
That was my weekend too. Cold, rainy, and made for miserable camping & picnics!
Sounds nicer than may bake-off at a soccer tournament. Full sun in the 90′s. In fact Sat-Mon gave us our first heat wave of the year.
good stuff…
summer has begun.
My hubby prefers camping the way you do.
Love all the shots – looks like a great weekend!
Funny Face
I might be able to handle camping that way!
Quasi-camping definitely sounds like my kind of camping, too!!!
I’m so glad you all had fun! And that pic of the boys facing the sunset….priceless!!!!!
Quasi camping sounds way better than real camping.
Why oh why does the weather do that! So annoying. And yes, I love your form of camping.
And I love love love that last shot!! Beautiful!!
How fun! I love the last picture! Perfect!
