Proud Mommy Moments: A What?!?!

in Proud Mommy Moments

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another Proud Mommy Moments!

For more info on what PMM is all about, see this post.

Please make sure that if you’re linking up, you’re actually linking a Proud or Not-So-Proud Mommy moment (using the permalink. Not sure what a permalink is? Just ask me). Links not related to PMM will be deleted and deleting links makes me feel bad. Please don’t make me feel bad.

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I know we did. We drove across Michigan to have Thanksgiving with my family. My middle brother and his family just built a brand new house, and they hosted Thanksgiving. My oldest brother and his family, as well as my parents were also all there.

It was just a really nice Thanksgiving. Good food, good company, and the kids were being good. We really didn’t have to get after them at all.

At the end of the evening, as we were all saying our goodbyes, my oldest brother informed me that Buddy told him he knew what the word “dingleberry*” meant. The irony in all of this is that my brother, “Mr. Jokester” and “Most likely to get into trouble” seemed appalled (and to be judging me) that Buddy knew what that word meant and was telling people.

I honestly had no idea, at the time, where Buddy would have heard that term. It’s not a term we just toss around in our daily conversation. As you can imagine, I was kind of embarrassed that Buddy knew what it meant and felt the need to share with others that he knew what it meant.

My middle brother found this conversation pretty funny. He only had a daughter, and she’s pretty well mannered.

However, the jokes on him. Once we got home, I asked Buddy where he learned the word. He smiled and said that my niece…none other than my middle brother’s daughter, had told him what it meant.

*If you are unaware of what the word “dingleberry” means, simply click on the hyperlinked word to be taken to the definition.

Okay! Now it’s your turn. Type out your Proud, or maybe not-so-Proud Mommy Moment and link it up! Don’t forget to check out Emmy’s Proud Mommy Moment as well! One last thing, PMM isn’t just for mom’s…anyone can link up!

Ahh the internet where we learn the names we call in fun we learn the real meaning behind. You know one would think that once these kids learned that a ‘dude’ was an infected hair on an elephant’s butt, it would have lost its appeal. I mean I don’t want to be called dude do you??

Oh, that is too funny! Dylan has picked up so many words this year from his friends. Some make me cringe!
I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!

Hilarious. Something to keep the conversation rolling at Christmastime;)

Lol! Yes it often is the quiet and good ones that cause the trouble. Too funny– you told your brother where he learned it right?

LOL!! Okay, so I have to know… did you say something to your brother?

What a great story! I love it when that sort of thing happens. I’d love to have seen his face when you told him ha ha!! x

So did you call your brother and let him know. I would have.

Even funnier when you know the cast of characters…would this be the same older brother who called himself “Melvin” during the entire 5th grade and told the substitute teachers that “J” was always absent? They could never understand why Melvin wasn’t listed on their attendance roster…

You should pull one over on him – tell him at Christmas that Buddy wants everyone to call him “Melvin” and you just can’t imagine why… :)

YES!! Validation! lmao

How’s that for classic? So… did you tell your brother yet? :)
