Someone had a birthday this month, and I’ve been remiss in posting photos.
Jack turned 9 years old on August 15th. Instead of doing a big party, we split it up into two smaller parties this year. First, on August 11th, we had a family party at our house. While I forgot to take pictures at his other party, I did take some pictures from this one.
Funny story about the cake. When Jdaddy picked it up, from left to right, top to bottom (as English is read), it said, “Happy Birthday 9th Jack.” Really? Jdaddy had them fix it up, and noted that the woman working in the bakery seemed confused as to why we were having her fix it. The same thing happened with a cake we ordered for Nick’s 2nd birthday. And they were from different bakeries!
Jack wanted a crossbow for his birthday, but those suckers are expensive! So we suggested that family give him money so that he could use it towards a crossbow. He was so excited to open his gifts of money!
And little brother Nick was excited watching him open his gifts.
The day of his birthday, I woke him up early and he opened a few small things from us, as well as his gifts from Nick and Luke. We then went to Tim Horton’s for breakfast before school. After school, we went out for dinner and then to Dairy Queen for dessert. I think he had a pretty good birthday!
The day after his birthday, we picked him up from school and went to Bass Pro Shop so he could try out a couple of crossbows to see what fit him best and was easiest for him to use.
Jack was super excited because getting a crossbow means that he gets to go hunting with Jdaddy this fall.
And the final celebration? Jack was allowed to invite two of his friends to go play mini-golf and ride go-karts the Saturday after his birthday. Jdaddy took those three plus Nick, while I stayed home with Luke. After the mini golf and go-karts, they all returned home and ran around like crazy. A little later, Jack’s friend’s families came over to have pizza with us, and the two friends spent the night.
After all that, I was BEAT. It was all worth it though. I just love how happy the kids get when it’s their birthday. One day (or one week!) all about them. It makes me want to be a kid again too!
