I know I say it every month, but dang, how can he already be 7 months old? Time is just flying by way too quickly!
Stats: 17 lbs, 6 oz and 25?? inches long (he hasn’t been measured lately)
Wearing: Size 3 diapers (and peeing through them…grr!) and mostly 6 month clothes.
- Sitting up without support
- Rolling all over the place
- Grabbing anything and everything and swatting at things
- Saying “dada” (though it’s just noise…he doesn’t know what he’s saying yet
- Eating solids
- Scooting around the floor, mostly backwards
- Hair. Finally!! Well, just a little bit and mostly sticking straight up, but it’s a start!
I anticipate a huge update next month, as I’m pretty sure Luke will be on the move by then. He can just barely get up on his hands and knees right now. Most of the time, he pushes himself backwards. He’s also spinning in circles on the floor and getting into stuff. I am not ready for him to become mobile. I really enjoy being able to put him on the floor and not worry (too much) about him getting into everything.
As I mentioned last month, we started rice cereal. Only, that didn’t go so well. He had a reaction to the cereal, which caused massive amounts of tummy pain for him. We took a couple weeks off and reintroduced it. He did better with it, but really just didn’t like the flavor. I gave him oatmeal for the first time over the weekend, so we’ll give him some time with oatmeal to see if he can become a more efficient eater. If he does well with that, then we can finally start trying some veggies. The kid wants to eat. He tries to grab our food all the time, and watches intently while we eat. It’s too bad that he’s had a hard time literally stomaching solids. Even with all of Jack’s food allergies, we never had an issue while introducing solids. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t concern me. I really hope Luke doesn’t have to deal with food allergies.
I’m pretty sure I didn’t mention it here, but Luke had some episodes where his limbs would shake. Obviously that concerned us. I mentioned it to his doctor at his 6 month appointment and given Nick’s history with epilepsy, we landed ourselves an appointment with the neurologist. Last week, Luke had an EEG performed at the hospital. We won’t have results until later this week, at the earliest. I am pretty confident that there’s nothing wrong and that he was exhibiting sleep myoclonus which isn’t epileptic in nature at all, but it’s good that we are getting things checked out.
Luke is fascinated with his hands and with touching things. He’s been aware of his hands for quite some time, but it’s just recently that he really pays attention to them. He likes to bring them together, fold them, grab things and release them, and touch everything he can get his hands on. I often just stare at him while he’s doing this and wonder what’s going on in his brain.
Right now, Luke’s battling a little bit of a cold. He has a cough and a stuffy nose, which is awesome when you consider that he’s also teething like a mad man. I hope he pops a tooth soon because little man is MISERABLE. We could all use a break!
Aside from the teething, he is still just such a happy baby. He gets so excited when he sees someone that he literally shakes with excitement. It’s the best greeting in the morning or when I get home each evening.
And, just to leave you with this thought. While Luke being 7 months old already is scary…almost just as scary is the fact that Christmas is in just over four months! What the heck!!
