As much as I don’t want them to, the months just keep on coming!!
Stats: 17-ish lbs, and 26-ish inches. I’m really bad at measuring and weighing him at home.
Wearing: Size 3 diapers and some 6 month clothes, but is moving into the 6-9 month range.
- Sitting up without support
- Rolling all over the place
- Army crawling and getting up on hands and knees and rocking back and forth
- Saying “dada”, “mama”, and “baba”, though he has no idea what they mean
- Eating oatmeal
- Getting into a sitting position on his own
As anticipated, this month, Luke is fully mobile. He is all over the place. If he can’t get to it via army crawl, he just rolls to where he wants to be. And it seems like nothing is out of reach. His favorite items? Everything that isn’t his. That includes the dog’s bones, balls, and toys. Blech. I’m constantly pulling things out of his hands (and mouth) and redirecting him. The fun is just beginning! He gets up on his hands and knees and moves his hands, but not his legs. Then he moves his legs and not his hands. It looks like he’s doing a dance. I’m pretty sure it will just be days until he’s full-on crawling.
Solid food has not gone well. The only thing Luke has been able to tolerate thus far is oatmeal cereal. He had a reaction to rice cereal and then squash. Per his doctor, we are to continue the oatmeal and stop all other solids until we can talk about it at his 9 month appointment in October.
Last month I mentioned that I had observed some episodes of his limbs twitching. He had an EEG in August and the results came back all clear. We are so thankful that we don’t have to do any more testing at this point. He has a follow up with the neurologist next month and that should be it, unless we notice any further issues.
This past month has been rough for Luke. He’s had a cold, then teething issues, then a stomach bug, then more teething issues. The poor kiddo just can’t catch a break. He’s an awesome sharer though…sharing his colds and stomach bugs with the rest of the family, as well as his daycare providers. The teething is just insane. His top front two teeth are right there, but just won’t break through. I can even see the white edge just hovering above the gum line. I’m hoping they break through this week so he can get some relief. **Edit- His top front two teeth finally broke through last night. Hallelujah!!
Luke still looks a lot like Nick did at this age, but a lot of his mannerisms remind of Jack. He will scrunch up his nose and breathe in and out very quickly, which is something Jack did all the time when he was little. It’s such an odd feeling to look at him and see “Nick”, but then to think “Jack” by the way he acts.
Last weekend, Luke was baptized (or “bathtized” as Nick calls it). It was a beautiful day and a very special event. I have pictures to share tomorrow.
Despite the teething and sicknesses, Luke’s still just such a happy little guy. Playing a game of “Bumblebee, Bumblebee, come from the barn…” or just the sight of Murphy can cause him to erupt into a case of belly laughs. I swear there’s nothing better than baby belly laughs. He is such a sweet, sweet baby. I hate that this year is going by so quickly!!
