Luke is such a joy. For the most part, he’s almost always happy, aside from when he’s tired or hungry. He has a strong personality though, and I think he’s going to be my “stinker” child. He definitely knows what he wants and he does what he can to get it. If you take something away from him or, Heaven forbid, shut a door while he’s on his way to destroy something, he will let you know in no uncertain terms, that he is NOT happy. Right now, that’s pretty cute. In a year or so? I’m sure I won’t find it cute at all.
I tried introducing Stage 3 foods to Luke, but he wants nothing to do with them. And Stage 2 baby food is hit or miss right now. Sometimes he’ll gobble it right up, but other times, he will completely refuse it. We introduced macaroni and cheese the other day and he absolutely loved it. He didn’t so much like the fact that it made his hands sticky though. I think he’s like me in that regard. I hate sticky stuff on my hands.
In just over two weeks from now, we will start to transition Luke to whole milk. I can’t believe we’re at that stage. I know I say “I can’t believe it” a lot when it comes to Luke, but I’m just so overwhelmed at thinking that he will be a year old in one short month. The time has flown by.
A couple of weeks ago, my poor little guy came down with a nasty fever. He battled a fairly high fever (102) for five days!! He likely had the flu, and while he was seen by his doctor twice in three days, he was never tested for it. He’s also likely passed that nasty little flu bug onto his big brother Nick, who is now also dealing with a 102 fever. Life was not very much fun while he was sick. Thankfully, he is definitely back to normal and into all kinds of trouble, as usual!
He’s still a night waker, unfortunately. I long for the day when he finally sleeps through the night on a regular basis. Of course, then I will probably miss those nighttime snuggles. But maybe not. I really enjoy my sleep. In addition to waking at night, he’s also been a pistol at bed time. He fights sleep and then freaks out in his crib until I rock him some more. I’m considering doing some sleep training while we’re all off between Christmas and New Year’s. I wouldn’t bet on it though.
His newest trick is blowing raspberries (as seen above). And while he’ll do it to imitate you, he’ll also do it if someone passes gas. The big boys think that is hilarious. And I’ll admit, he’s made me laugh quite a few times too.
We are very excited to celebrate Christmas with our little guy. Right now, he is really enjoying the Christmas decorations. We’re done shopping for him, and while I’m excited about a couple of gifts we have for him, I’m certain he’ll enjoy the wrapping paper and boxes more than any of the toys.
